GIANT | West Chester, PA

1393 Dilworthtown Road

Welcome to the Dilworthtown GIANT!

Our final West Chester store is the GIANT in the Shoppes at Dilworthtown Crossing. This store opened along with the center on June 25, 2002 as the first GIANT location in the West Chester area. As you can see, the exterior is a modification of the chain's early 2000s design, with brick to match the rest of the center. Inside, the store has the latest GIANT decor. Let's take a look!

This was taken in the left tower, but we'll be starting on the other side of the store.

An expansive produce department takes up most of the grand aisle.

Beer and wine is in the front corner on this side of the building. Before the store was extensively remodeled around 2011, the floral department was here.

Prepared foods, deli and cheese, and the bakery are on the outside wall, completing the grand aisle.

Natural foods are in a strange spot on the back wall next to the bakery.

A look down aisle 4, with soda, water, and other drinks.

The service meat and seafood counter is on the back wall, with the packaged meats next to it.

Frozen foods and dairy are on the left side of the store. The frozen section on the front wall in the second photo was originally home to the store's bakery. The pharmacy was located next to it, but that closed in the late 2000s and is now GIANT Direct.

The front end, with checkouts, customer service, and a Citizens Bank branch.

This must have been very shortly before, or possibly even during, the remodel to the current decor.

2007

The store was only five years old at this point.

2.6 miles away: Wegmans of Concordville

Next week, Wegmans will be making its debut on the blog with a tour of their Concordville store. This location opened in 2015 and is one of the only area Wegmans.

3.4 miles away: Acme of Concordville

We'll also soon be seeing the Concordville Acme, which opened with its shopping center in 2008 and is the newest purpose-built Acme.

That's all for this store! I found it to be a pretty nice supermarket and think the new decor looks great here. Even despite me being here on a Wednesday morning in between Christmas and New Year's, the store was still quite active. See you at the Wegmans next week!
