Acme | West Goshen, PA

907 Paoli Pike

Welcome to the West Goshen Acme!

Happy New Year! We'll be starting off 2024 with the Acme of West Goshen. This Acme first opened on August 20, 1958, making it one of the oldest Acme locations still in operation. However, it was expanded sometime in the 80s and again in the 90s (when this facade was put on the store), making it look similar to Holmes and Cape May Court House. It was also the very first store to get the Premium Fresh & Healthy 3.0 decor package in 2010, but it's since been remodeled again to... well, I'm sure you can guess. Let's check it out!

Sincerely, Food has spread to the TVs!

West Goshen's Freshest Produce Market is on the right wall. The flooring is left over from the Red White & Blue decor package of the 90s.

The bakery is in an island across from produce. Before his son became famous, Bam Margera's dad worked in this Acme bakery.

The deli is actually in the corner here! This is where it would have been when the store first opened in 1958, though it would've been probably half the size back then.

Meat and seafood follow the deli on the back wall. The floor tiling is left over from the Industrial Circus decor from the 2000s. It can also be seen by the pharmacy.

The Frosted Mug is in the first aisle. Before this store got a liquor license, this was the promotional aisle.

Lancaster Meats are up next. Prices have been locked since June!

Lots of variety in aisle 13, with candy, gift wrap, toys, gum, mints, and greeting cards. Back in the 90s, these aisles were home to Max Pack, Acme's short-lived wholesale department. The circular lighting from that department is still in this area today.

Dairy is in the last aisle. This store is actually quite wide, with a total of 19 aisles, but it feels somewhat small inside still because the length front to back hasn't been added onto much since the store first opened.

Pharmacy and floral are just past the left entrance. This store probably had a walk-in floral cooler at some point.

A look down the front end of this Acme. Interestingly, they kept the PF&H store directory, though it doesn't light up anymore. I would guess it's still mostly accurate.

I don't know when the Citizens Bank here closed. It was located along the front wall, pretty much directly under where the exterior signage for it was.

Well, this was a nice store, and it's also one of the better implementations of Quality Built I've seen. We'll be seeing one final store in West Chester next week before heading further south. Thank you for reading, and enjoy your weekend - and if you're in my neck of the woods, enjoy the upcoming winter weather! Here's to a great 2024! Sincerely, The Retail Connection.

  1. Like the Newtown Square store, it's pretty hard to tell this store has been expanded onto multiple times. This store must do really good business though, especially with how many remodels it's gotten recently (sounds like it's had 3 remodels since 90's Red, White & Blue, from what you mentioned).

    1. Yeah, this store is pretty seamless as well, and I would've been surprised to hear it wasn't actually built in the 90s. It definitely does do good business! You're right - the remodel progression has been Red White & Blue > Industrial Circus > PF&H 3.0 > Quality Built.

  2. Happy New Year! I agree with AFB, it's not easy to tell at all that this store has been expanded or in operation so long, which is pretty neat.
