Welcome to the Prospect Park Rite Aid!
Thanks for stopping by The Retail Connection. I recently found some photos inside this Rite Aid store from August and figured they would make a good post. This is the Prospect Park location, which opened in 2010 as a relocation from their old store up the road in Norwood. There isn't a whole lot to see here, but let's take a look anyway!
The action way runs from the entrance doors (which are at an angle) to the pharmacy -- or "PHARMACIST" -- at the back of the store. As you can see, this store has the Genuine Well Being décor. It received the look along with a complete store reset in the summer of 2019. The checkout lanes (which are now directly behind where this photo was taken) were originally along the other side, where the beauty section is now located.
Food items are in the front left corner past the checkout. I'm a fan of this decor -- it's very simple in places like this, but it definitely looks nice. It's also a far cry from their wild and tacky décor of the late 90's.
Aisle 10 is all seasonal items. As you can see from this aisle marker, wood grain is a major part of this décor package.
In this shot, we're looking down aisle 13. Trash bags are kind of out of place in this aisle. I also wonder how many people are still buying movies on DVD.
In the Wellbeing package, specific sections of the store are designated by these hanging patterned circles. This one, for Home Care, has a nice orange design.
The in-store GNC in the back also has one. I'm almost positive the original Rite Aid location didn't have any sort of GNC department, but I can't say for certain. I didn't go to that store much.

2022
This picture was taken in August 2012, about two years after the store first opened. At this point, it still used the Rite Aid "shield" logo, as opposed to the new mortar and pestle icon.
2007
Back in 2007, this property was the site of an abandoned Texaco gas station/car wash and battery store, the latter of which was further up and not visible here. There was a "leased" sign at the street corner, meaning Rite Aid must have been working on opening here even then.
Nearby competition
0.2 miles away: CVS of Prospect Park
Only three buildings separate the Rite Aid from this CVS Pharmacy, located at the top of the steep hill that is this section of Chester Pike. This store opened around 2001 on the site of a local restaurant called Hennessy's. This store has the latest remodel inside.
Thanks for checking out this quick post! I wasn't expecting to do this, but I found these photos and thought it would be best to just get them out there. That's going to do it for today's edition of The Retail Connection: With us, it's personal.
